For more than twenty-seven years, Billy Ross has been a professional photographer in Memphis, Tennessee and the Mid-South. He has created a unique body of work, including portraiture, wedding photography, nudes, and other commercial works. The concentration in black and white portraits and color portraits of children, families. couples, and pets has been his specialty. He no longer photographs weddings in order to devote his undivided attention to portraiture.

After majoring in Photography and Fine Art in college, he had a thirteen-year apprenticeship and association with his father, Ken Ross a Master photojournalist and portrait photographer. Ken Ross was well known for photographing the likes of Elvis Presley, Rick Nelson, Martin Luther King, Danny Thomas, Mickey Mantle, Betty Grable, Tyrone Power, Joan Crawford, Cybill Shepherd, U.S. Presidents, and many other famous people. Ken Ross died in January 1990. The Ross studio was established in 1947.

Billy is noted for his style, patience, timing, and instinctive ability to capture individual personalities. His children's portraits capture the natural innocence of the moment. Pet photography includes dogs, cats, horses, and exotic birds and snakes. Spring and summer months he enjoys his beach portrait sessions of children and families in Destin and South Walton County, Florida, Perdido Key and Orange Beach, Alabama, Charleston and Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. l-le often travels across the country photographing individuals and families in various unique settings, such as the mountains of Crested Butte, Colorado, historic areas of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, coastal areas of Maine and Massachusetts, and family resorts at Horseshoe Lake, Arkansas, and Pickwick Lake in Tennessee.

Billy's originality and creative ideas are always focused whether photographing babies, expectant mothers, generation portraits, grandparents or even business headshots. Whatever the environment is he adapts like a chameleon. He extensively photographed the beautiful people, mountains, and beaches of New Zealand. He has also photographed families in the scenic resort of Atlantis in the Bahamas.

The Ross goal is photographing people at their best, which makes a statement of their unique character and personality. Billy Ross is dedicated to a lifetime of excellence in portrait photography. Capturing special moments in the life of a child and in families has been his lifetime ambition.
